Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 September 2026. This policy applies from the date this website is published at zhatura.com.

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit zhatura.com, why it is collected, and what choices you have. It covers this website only. Zhatura is not yet launched as a product, so it does not describe accounts, learner profiles or gameplay data — a separate product privacy notice will be published before the product becomes available.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Zhatura is a product and brand operated by TAMILIAM AS, a Norwegian limited company (organisation number 937 718 772). TAMILIAM AS is the data controller for the information described in this policy.

TAMILIAM AS
Organisation number 937 718 772
Biskop Gunnerus' gate 14A

Our entry in the Norwegian register of legal entities is available at virksomhet.brreg.no. For any privacy question or request, email play@zhatura.com.

2. Information collected on this website

Information you choose to send us

This website has no sign-up form or account system. The “Get Started” buttons open your own email client addressed to play@zhatura.com. If you email us, we receive whatever you include — typically your name, your email address, and the content of your message. Sending an email is entirely your choice.

Technical and device information

Like most websites, our hosting provider and our analytics tool receive limited technical information when a page loads, which may include your IP address (truncated or shortened by Google Analytics before storage), browser type and version, operating system and device type, approximate location derived from the IP address (typically country or city level), the pages you view and how long you spend on them, and the referring website or link that brought you here.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not run advertising on this website, and advertising, remarketing and ad-personalisation signals are switched off. We do not knowingly build profiles about individual visitors, and we do not use this website's analytics for automated decision-making.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies (and equivalent browser storage) are small files a site can store on your device. We group them into two categories.

CategoryWhat it is used forSet before consent?
Strictly necessaryA single entry in your browser's local storage (zhatura_consent_v1) that remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked on every page. Also basic security and abuse prevention by our host.Yes — the site cannot work correctly without it, and it exists only because you made a choice.
AnalyticsGoogle Analytics 4 cookies (_ga and _ga_<container>) which distinguish one visitor from another and measure how the site is used.No. These are only set after you turn analytics on.

Analytics is switched off by default. When you first visit, a banner asks you to choose, and nothing non-essential runs until you do. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page. Clearing your browser storage also resets the choice, and you will be asked again.

4. Google Analytics and the Google tag

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-N29SHRW71P) to understand how the website is used and to improve the visitor experience. Google Analytics is not loaded or contacted before you provide explicit analytics consent.

Our analytics implementation operates under Google Consent Mode v2 with strict pre-consent privacy:

  • No pre-consent tracking: Before consent is granted, the Google tag (gtag.js) is not loaded, setting no analytics cookies and sending no network requests or cookieless pings to Google Analytics.
  • Storage and advertising denied: Analytics storage (analytics_storage) remains denied by default until explicit consent. All advertising consent categories (ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization) remain denied at all times on this website. We do not enable advertising features or remarketing.
  • Privacy settings: Google Signals is turned off, and user-provided data collection is turned off. Ads personalization is disabled across all regions.
  • Retention: Event data and user data retention in Google Analytics are configured for 14 months (with reset on new user activity enabled).
  • IP handling: IP addresses are automatically shortened by Google Analytics before storage.

If you choose “Reject non-essential”, Google Analytics is not loaded at all, and no analytics cookies or data collection occur. The website remains fully functional whether you accept or reject analytics. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

5. Why we process this information

  • To provide and secure the website — serving pages, preventing abuse, and keeping the site available.
  • To remember your cookie choice — so we do not ask again on every page.
  • To measure and improve the website — understanding which pages are read and where visitors come from, only with your consent.
  • To respond to you — replying to enquiries you send by email and, where you ask to be told about early access, contacting you about it.

6. Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR)

For this pre-launch website, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable privacy laws:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): For optional Google Analytics measurement and related storage. Consent is voluntary and can be changed or withdrawn at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer without affecting prior processing or website functionality.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): For operating, securing, and maintaining the website, preventing fraud or abuse, and responding to ordinary correspondence initiated by visitors. Our interest is in running a secure, functioning website and communicating with people who contact us.
  • Steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b)): Where you ask to be included on our early-access waiting list or request details prior to potentially entering into a service relationship.

This legal-basis mapping applies to this informational website. Additional processing activities introduced with user accounts, subscriptions, educational features, children's functionality, or the full Zhatura service will be documented separately before those features launch.

7. How long information is kept

We adhere to data minimisation and retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy:

  • Cookie consent choice: Stored locally in your browser (key zhatura_consent_v1) until you change your preference, clear browser storage, or the mechanism is updated.
  • Google Analytics data: Event and user-level data are retained for 14 months in accordance with our GA4 retention settings (with reset on new activity enabled), after which they are deleted automatically.
  • Email enquiries: Correspondence sent to play@zhatura.com is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the enquiry, handle any resulting relationship, meet applicable legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims where necessary, after which it is deleted or anonymised when no longer required. Information that subsequently becomes part of formal business or accounting records will be retained in accordance with applicable statutory retention requirements.

8. Service providers

We keep the number of third parties deliberately small. The typeface used on this site is served from zhatura.com rather than from a third-party font service, so loading a page does not disclose your IP address to a font provider. The following process information on our behalf or receive it as a necessary part of delivering the site:

ProviderRoleWhat it receives
Google (Firebase Hosting)Website hosting and content deliveryRequest data including IP address, as part of serving pages
Google (Analytics 4)Website analytics — only with your consentShortened IP address, device/browser data, pages viewed

9. International transfers

TAMILIAM AS is established in Norway, which participates in the European Economic Area (EEA). Our service providers, including Google entities providing hosting and analytics services, may process technical data and (where consent is given) analytics data on servers located outside Norway and the EEA, including in the United States.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA to countries not recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms recognised under Chapter V of the GDPR, such as an applicable adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, alongside supplementary technical and contractual safeguards provided by our vendors. We keep these vendor transfer arrangements and safeguards under ongoing review.

10. Children's privacy

Zhatura is envisioned as an educational chess platform for students and young learners, and we treat the privacy of young people with the highest importance. We strictly distinguish this current pre-launch informational website from future interactive product features:

  • This informational website: This website is directed at adults — parents, educators, chess coaches, and academy administrators. It does not offer user registration or accounts, and we do not knowingly request or collect personal information from children through it.
  • Future children's product features: When Zhatura launches interactive product functionality involving children's accounts or the processing of children's personal data, appropriate safeguards and parental oversight will be implemented. Before launching those features, TAMILIAM AS will establish, legally review, and publish comprehensive procedures governing age verification, parental consent, permitted data collection, parental access and deletion rights, and safeguarding tailored to each market served.

Because these product-level accounts and children's features are not yet offered on this landing page, we make no premature claims of compliance with specific child-protection frameworks (such as the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), GDPR Article 8 digital-consent rules, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act). Full compliance documentation and dedicated children's privacy notices will be published prior to the launch of those product features.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this website via email, please contact us at play@zhatura.com and we will promptly delete it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you; to have inaccurate information corrected; to have information deleted; to restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests; to receive certain information in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time. Analytics consent can be withdrawn directly using “Cookie settings” in the footer.

To exercise any of these rights, email play@zhatura.com. We will not charge you for a routine request, and we aim to respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority. As TAMILIAM AS is established in Norway, our competent national supervisory authority is the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no). If you reside elsewhere in the EEA or in the UK, you may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority in the country where you live, work, or where an alleged infringement occurred.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and sends security headers that limit how it can be framed and how content types are interpreted. Access to our hosting and analytics accounts is restricted to the people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps proportionate to the very limited information this site handles.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change — in particular when the product launches and when full product features and children's privacy procedures are introduced. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects you, we will make that clear on the site.

14. Contact

Privacy questions, requests and complaints: play@zhatura.com, or by post to TAMILIAM AS, Biskop Gunnerus' gate 14A, 0185 Oslo, Norway.
